Decorating and floor-plan editing
The decorate page does two things: get the floor plan right and place the furniture. Everything happens on one canvas — no jumping between pages or regenerating the room.
Two states on one canvas
Opening Decorate from a world or the works list shows the existing room straight away — no template dialog first. Empty or very old scenes automatically receive a default room.
The Decorate / Floor plan segmented control at the top switches states, and so does Tab. Switching only moves the camera and panels; the scene is not remounted, so selection and the undo stack are kept.
2D floor-plan editing
In Floor plan mode, drag an exterior wall segment to change its length, or drag a corner to reshape the outline. Neighbouring walls stay square and resize with it.
- Dimensions snap to 0.1 m on a 0.5 m reference grid
- While dragging a wall, the two neighbouring lengths are shown too
- Edges are limited to 1.5–12 m and area to 6–96 m²; out-of-range drags stop and turn red
- Each drag collapses into a single undo step on release
Jogs, partitions, doors and windows
With the Jog tool, tap an exterior wall to fold a square corner into it; tap the delete marker on a corner to merge it back into a straight wall. Partitions, doors and windows are also built here: pick a tool and tap the wall line.
Applying a new template or drawing a new outline clears the old partitions, doors and windows and tells you so. For small adjustments, drag walls or corners instead of changing the outline.
The ruler and its readout
Each exterior wall has a ruler along its outside, showing only that segment’s current length; the number rotates with the ruler. When the ruler moves behind a wall, the readout hides instead of floating in front of it.
- Dragging also shows the affected neighbouring lengths
- Touch drags snap step by step with a light haptic
- Zooming or panning to a room edge no longer removes the whole ruler
Furnish, save, publish
Switch back to Decorate, pick furniture from the library and tap the floor or a wall to place it. Selected items can be moved, rotated, duplicated or deleted; if something does not fit, the number of items to move is shown.
Changes save automatically, including when you leave the page. Press Done to commit the floor plan, then publish the world to share it.
Frequently asked questions
- Why can’t I drag a wall?
- Make sure you are in Floor plan mode and grabbing the wall segment itself, not furniture or empty floor. Both wall segments and vertex handles can be dragged; keep one finger or the left mouse button held.
- Why did my partitions, doors and windows disappear after changing the template?
- A new template replaces the entire exterior outline, so old partitions and openings no longer match and are cleared, with a warning. For small changes, drag a wall or corner instead of applying a template.
- Why does the ruler readout disappear sometimes?
- The readout hides when a wall blocks it, so it never floats in front of the wall. Rotate the view back to the ruler’s side or zoom out and it returns.
